Job Overview
As the Senior Controller, you will be a critical member of our leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures. You will work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to provide strategic insights and drive financial performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain financial controls and systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling to support business decision-making and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance, manage cash flow, and enhance profitability.
- Manage and mentor a team of accountants and finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities as needed.
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in financial management software and MS Excel.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a track record of mentoring and developing finance professionals.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
